Public Transport Schedule Adjustments for the New School Term

Changes to Public Transport Schedules Ahead of New School Year

As the new school term approaches, significant modifications to bus and tram schedules will take effect starting tomorrow. These adjustments are designed to accommodate the surge in demand that typically follows the holiday season and the beginning of the academic year. Public transport companies are making these changes to ensure that students and commuters have reliable access to transportation across the island and metropolitan area.

Enhanced Services on Major Bus Routes

In response to the anticipated increase in passenger numbers, Titsa and Metrotenerife, the primary public transport providers, are implementing strategic changes to their services. Notably, lines 100 and 103 will see the most significant alterations, particularly in their connections between Puerto de la Cruz and key destinations such as Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna.

Line 100, which operates between Puerto de la Cruz Station and Santa Cruz Interchange, will maintain its direct service while enhancing its frequency to every thirty minutes. This line will also be operational on weekends, making it more accessible for those traveling during leisure time. While it will not make stops in La Laguna, it will serve several important locations, including the Guajara Campus, Santiago Martín Pavilion, University Hospital of Canarias, Nuevo Obrero, Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, Fray Luis de Granada, Meridiano Shopping Centre, and Santa Cruz Interchange. This expanded service aims to facilitate easier access to educational institutions and healthcare facilities.

On the other hand, line 103 will undergo a significant route modification. It will no longer extend to the capital, Santa Cruz, but will instead provide a direct connection between Puerto de la Cruz Station and La Laguna Interchange. This change is expected to increase the number of available seats for passengers, thereby improving overall service efficiency and comfort.

Impact on Santa Cruz Commuters

For commuters traveling from Santa Cruz, several routes will experience a reduction in weekend services. Specifically, routes 120 (Santa Cruz de Tenerife-Candelaria-Puertito de Güímar-Güímar), 122 (Santa Cruz de Tenerife-Las Caletillas-Candelaria), 138, and 139 (Santa Cruz de Tenerife-Radazul-Tabaiba) will have fewer journeys available. This reduction may require commuters to plan their travel more carefully, as the availability of services will be limited during weekends.

Regional Adjustments in Northern and Southern Areas

In the northern region, line 347 (La Orotava-Palo Blanco-Realejo Alto) will see an increase in its weekday journeys, providing more options for those commuting during the week. Conversely, line 366 (La Orotava-Las Dehesas-El Rincón) will now operate on weekends, offering additional travel opportunities for residents and visitors alike. However, line 376 (La Orotava-Las Dehesas-El Rincón) will experience a reduction in its frequency, which may affect some passengers’ travel plans.

Furthermore, route 380 (La Corujera-Tigaiga) will undergo some schedule adjustments to better align with passenger needs, while line 546 (Realejo Alto-El Socorro beach) will cease operations entirely. Additionally, line 369 (Buenavista-Teno) will revert to its winter schedule starting October 1, reflecting seasonal changes in demand.

In the southern area, Titsa will reinstate services that were previously limited to school days on lines 410, 412, 419, 421, 463, and 486. This reinstatement is particularly important for students and families who rely on these routes for daily transportation. Line 416 (Granadilla-Valle San Lorenzo-Los Cristianos) will also see some trip adjustments to improve service reliability. Moreover, line 467 (Costa del Silencio-Los Cristianos-Costa Adeje Station-La Caleta) will update its weekend schedules to include more night services, catering to the needs of evening travelers.

Additionally, line 493 (Guía de Isora, Alcalá via TF-463) will modify its route to travel from the town to Alcalá, passing through Playa de San Juan (TF-463) and TF-47 road. Line 494 will also change its route for both outbound and return journeys, ensuring that passengers have access to the most efficient paths to their destinations.
