The municipalities of Icod de los Vinos and La Orotava are set to experience a significant transformation in their parking infrastructure, which is expected to greatly benefit residents and visitors alike. In a collaborative effort, the two municipalities will see the creation of a total of 345 new parking spaces, made possible through an investment exceeding five million euros. In La Orotava, the upcoming La Torrita public car park will feature 245 parking spaces spread over nearly 8,500 square metres. On the other hand, Icod de los Vinos will develop an underground car park designed to accommodate 100 vehicles within an area of almost 1,500 square metres, with an estimated cost of around three million euros.

Financial Contributions and Support

The funding for these ambitious projects will come from a variety of administrative sources. For the La Orotava initiative, the Cabildo of Tenerife is contributing one million euros, which is matched by an additional million from the Government of the Canary Islands. Furthermore, the local council is providing over half a million euros to support the project. In the case of Icod de los Vinos, the Insular Corporation will cover two million euros of the total budget, while the municipality will be responsible for financing the remaining costs.
