Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Illuminate Christmas Decorations with €900,000 Investment
The vibrant city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is gearing up for the festive season with the official launch of its Christmas lighting scheduled for November 20. This event marks the beginning of the 2025-2026 holiday celebrations, promising to transform the city into a dazzling winter wonderland.
Extensive Lighting Installation Across the City
This year’s Christmas lighting initiative represents a remarkable investment of €900,000, showcasing a staggering total of 4,580,000 LED bulbs. The city council has confirmed that these decorations will be strategically placed across more than 400 locations throughout the municipality, ensuring that every corner of Santa Cruz de Tenerife shines brightly during the holiday season. The extensive installation includes 2,172 unique light designs that will adorn lamp posts, 119 cross arches, over 92,000 meters of garlands, and 86 ground elements, creating a festive atmosphere that is sure to delight residents and visitors alike.
Enhanced Lighting on Major Avenues
Significant enhancements will be visible on major access routes, including Benito Pérez Armas, Manuel Hermoso Rojas, and Príncipes de España. These key thoroughfares will receive additional lighting to create a welcoming ambiance for those traveling through the city. Furthermore, Avenida Francisco La Roche, the area surrounding Cuartel San Carlos, and Plaza San Telmo will also benefit from improved lighting features. In addition to these major routes, commercial streets such as Rambla Pulido, Calle El Pilar, and Villalba Hervás will be illuminated with new lighting designs, enhancing the shopping experience and encouraging local commerce during the festive season.
Newly Illuminated Streets and Design Innovations
This year, the lighting will extend to Calle Álvarez de Lugo and the avenues Islas Canarias and Ángel Romero, further expanding the reach of the festive decorations. In a commendable effort to protect the environment, the city has implemented specific supports in Plaza del Príncipe to prevent decorations from being placed on ancient trees, a practice that had been common in previous years. This thoughtful approach not only preserves the natural beauty of the area but also reflects the city’s commitment to sustainable practices during the holiday season.
New Decorative Features for the Festive Season
Among the exciting new ornamental additions this year is a magnificent 25-meter Christmas tree located in Plaza de España, which is sure to become a focal point for holiday gatherings. Additionally, a striking 10×10 meter microlamp ball will be installed in Plaza del Patriotismo, adding a modern twist to the traditional festive decorations. Other decorative figures will be strategically placed throughout the city’s plazas and prominent areas, enhancing the overall festive atmosphere and inviting residents and tourists to immerse themselves in the holiday spirit.
