Brunelli’s Steakhouse Marks a Decade with New Locations in Santa Cruz
Brunelli’s Steakhouse, a well-established dining venue in Tenerife, is celebrating its tenth anniversary with ambitious plans for expansion. The restaurant, known for its authentic American steakhouse experience, is set to broaden its reach with new locations in Santa Cruz and Adeje, promising to bring its signature culinary offerings to more patrons.
Strategic Expansion Plans Unveiled
In a recent announcement, Brunelli’s Steakhouse, which operates under the umbrella of the Loro Parque Group, revealed its plans to open new establishments on Anaga Avenue in Santa Cruz and in Adeje. The Santa Cruz location will take over the premises that were once home to the Chinese restaurant Dragón de Oro, which closed its doors in 2012. Brunelli’s Restauración S.L., the management company behind the steakhouse, has submitted a request for a 30-year administrative concession from the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife for plot SCDA019, which covers an area of 507.82 square meters. This strategic move aims to secure a long-term presence in a bustling area that attracts numerous cruise passengers and tourists.
A Historical Venue Reimagined
The site selected for Brunelli’s holds historical significance, having been the location of the Dragón de Oro restaurant for an impressive 36 years. This establishment was among the first Chinese restaurants to grace the Canary Islands, opening its doors in the 1970s and introducing local diners to a variety of traditional dishes, including spring rolls and Peking duck. The restaurant quickly became a beloved family destination until it was compelled to vacate the premises due to waterfront redevelopment plans. Following negotiations, the owners received €185,000 in compensation from the Port Authority, paving the way for Brunelli’s to breathe new life into the space.
Signature Dining Experience at Brunelli’s
Since its inception in 2015 in Puerto de la Cruz, Brunelli’s Steakhouse has garnered a reputation for delivering an authentic American steakhouse experience. Under the guidance of Wolfgang Kiessling, the president of Loro Parque, the restaurant is equipped with specialized cooking equipment, including a Southbend oven that reaches temperatures of 800 degrees. This high-tech oven is instrumental in ensuring the preparation of premium cuts of meat, which form the cornerstone of the menu. Diners can indulge in a selection of top-quality beef cuts, such as T-bone, porterhouse, and ribeye, with main dishes often priced above €70. Complementing the culinary offerings is an extensive wine selection that features both international and local Canary wines. The restaurant’s commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed, as it has received accolades from the prestigious MICHELIN Guide and various culinary publications.
Exciting Developments on the Horizon
As Brunelli’s celebrates a decade of culinary success, the plans for the new locations are progressing rapidly. The Santa Cruz restaurant is set to be strategically positioned across from the cruise terminal, housed in a modern two-storey glass building designed by architect Pilar Mederos. This contemporary structure will feature a rooftop terrace, providing diners with stunning views while they enjoy their meals. Reports indicate that the new venue will also be equipped with the same high-quality Southbend oven as its original location, allowing it to efficiently cater to a large number of customers in this vibrant tourist area.
Backing from a Renowned Group
This expansion is in line with the broader vision of the Loro Parque Group, a significant business entity in Tenerife that encompasses not only the acclaimed zoo but also the popular Siam Park water park and various hotel and leisure projects. Brunelli’s Steakhouse serves as the flagship culinary brand of this conglomerate, reinforcing its commitment to providing exceptional dining experiences that resonate with both locals and visitors alike.
